I am an artist working with sounds, stories and sensations, in perpetual pursuit of alternative storytelling.
I like to play with the notion of a contemporary marriage between performance and poetry. I’d explore human condition, memory, time, and our relationship with art and ecology through narratives, often drawn from my autobiographical events as a non-native in my current habitat. At the moment I would identify my practice as Korean-Irish-British, if that sort of thing is important to you.
I’ve had the fortune of performing and exhibiting extensively including at Sonorities Festival (Belfast), Museum of Modern Art Warsaw, International Summer Music Festival Darmstadt, Oslo Internasjonale Poesifestival, Espace Niemeyer (Paris), Osaka Electroacoustic Music Festival, apex art (NYC), Oil Tank Culture Park (Seoul), and Cafe OTO (London). I was honoured to receive an Oram Award and two Ivor Novello Composers Award nominations. I thoroughly enjoyed my postgraduate educations at Sonic Arts Research Centre (SARC: Centre for Interdisciplinary Research in Sound and Music) in Belfast which resulted in my MA and PhD degrees.
